We are looking for an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead hotel operations, inspire a strong team, and ensure the property continues to deliver exceptional guest experiences while achieving its operational and financial goals.
Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and daily operations of the Padre Hotel. This role oversees all hotel departments, drives operational excellence and profitability, and ensures a positive workplace culture centered on teamwork, accountability, and outstanding guest service. Working closely with department leaders and corporate operations, the General Manager ensures alignment with company standards, business objectives, and the Eat, Drink and Sleep vision for hospitality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily hotel operations and provide leadership, guidance, and support to department heads to ensure operational excellence and exceptional guest service.
- Lead all aspects of employee management, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and disciplinary action.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, monitor revenue, labor, and expenses, and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Review financial statements, prepare monthly P&L reviews, evaluate revenue performance and ADR, and ensure timely completion of financial reporting and month-end responsibilities.
- Conduct regular property inspections and walkthroughs to maintain safety, cleanliness, service quality, and operational standards.
- Lead operational, safety, and departmental meetings while maintaining effective communication across all departments.
- Address guest complaints, employee concerns, workplace incidents, and injuries promptly and professionally, following company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, safety regulations, licensing requirements, and hospitality industry standards.
- Partner with department leadership and corporate operations to establish goals, improve performance, and implement operational initiatives.
- Oversee special events, holiday offerings, and other property programming as needed.
- Ensure timely completion of administrative responsibilities, including invoice coding, purchasing, expense reviews, and departmental reporting.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple departments and priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge of hotel operations, financial reporting, budgeting, expense management, and revenue performance.
- Familiarity with California employment laws, labor regulations, and workplace safety requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, guests, vendors, and corporate leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, and the ability to learn and navigate property management and financial systems.
- Experience with Toast, Great Plains, and StayNtouch or a comparable cloud-based property management system is preferred.
- Basic mathematical skills and the ability to interpret financial statements and operational reports.
- Ability to handle confidential employee, financial, and company information with discretion.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- Five or more years of relevant hospitality management experience, preferably in hotel operations, general management or a comparable leadership role.
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) certification preferred.
