Director of Operations at Sonar

An Arizona based, vertically integrated cannabis company is seeking a hands-on Director of Operations to lead its Arizona cultivation and production operations, including a high-tech Dutch glass greenhouse.

This opportunity combines operational leadership with direct involvement in day-to-day facility performance. The Director will oversee department leaders across cultivation, maintenance, post-harvest, and packaging, supporting reliable operations, product quality, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, visible leader who can support an established team, strengthen accountability, and identify practical opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Oversee daily cultivation and production operations, aligning departments, resources, and priorities.
• Team Development: Lead and support department heads, reinforce accountability, and maintain a collaborative, safety-focused culture.
• Facility Performance: Partner with cultivation and maintenance leaders to support equipment reliability, environmental systems, and preventive maintenance.
• Production & Quality: Coordinate workflows across cultivation, post-harvest, and packaging to support production goals and consistent product quality.
• Process Improvement: Strengthen SOPs, monitor operating performance, and identify opportunities to improve productivity, cost control, and resource utilization.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain operating practices that support applicable cannabis regulations, workplace safety, and company standards.

Qualification & Experience

• Progressive operations leadership experience in cannabis, commercial greenhouse cultivation, controlled-environment agriculture, or a related production environment.
• Experience leading department managers and coordinating cross-functional teams.
• Strong capabilities in production planning, SOP implementation, process improvement, and facility operations.
• Familiarity with greenhouse systems, cultivation workflows, and regulated production environments is highly relevant.
• A hands-on leadership style with sound judgment, clear communication, and a commitment to quality and safety.
