Community Event Host at Texas Sports Academy Main
About the Role
Pay: $25/hour
Texas Sports Academy is a K-12 school designed for serious student-athletes who want both elite academics and high-level athletic development. Students cover 2x the material in just 2 hours a day, using the same 2-Hour Learning model as Alpha School. That frees up their entire afternoon for serious training, where they work alongside former pro and D1 athletes coaching them at the highest standard.
We're hiring Community Event Hosts in Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio. We partner with gyms, fields, and training facilities across Texas to host community events for homeschool families. Families get a fun, high-quality athletic experience, and they get to meet us in person. You'll be the face of the school at these events. For many families, you'll be the first person they meet from the school, and your job is to make them feel welcome, answer their questions, and leave them with a great first impression.
What You'll Do
- Event Setup: Arrive 30 minutes early, meet the facility lead, and make sure the check-in area is ready.
- Family Check-In: Work with the facility staff to make sure every family checks in.
- Welcome Remarks: Give a short welcome to the group, about two minutes, and share who we are as a school.
- Family Conversations: Talk with every family in the room. Some are already enrolled, and others are local homeschool families learning about us for the first time, so expect a wide range of questions.
- Program and TEFA Questions: Explain the school and TEFA (Texas Education Freedom Accounts) in plain, friendly language.
- Event Photos and Video: Take a few photos and short video clips on your phone.
Requirements
- Outgoing by Nature: You enjoy walking up to strangers and starting a conversation.
- Comfortable on a Microphone: You can hold a microphone and speak to a group for a few minutes.
- Event Hosting Experience: You've hosted or run events before.
- Phone Photography and Video: You're comfortable taking photos and short videos on a phone.
- Weekday Daytime Availability: You're available on weekday daytimes.
- Reliable Transportation: You have a reliable car and are willing to drive within your metro area.
- Background Check: You're able to pass a background check.
Bonus Points
- Current Parent at the School: You have a student enrolled with us.
- Homeschool Parent: You homeschool your own children.
- Former Athlete: You've competed at a serious level yourself.
- Education Background: You've worked in education.
Why Join Us?
You'll be the first person many families meet from the school, and set the tone for Texas Sports Academy. The work is part-time and on weekday daytimes, travel time each way is paid, and gas and reasonable expenses are reimbursed, so your time at and around every event is covered. As the event schedule grows across the state, so does the work available to hosts in your metro.
