Runner/Busser at The June

Date: 2 hours ago
City: Jacksonville, FL
Contract type: Full time

About the Role

The June is seeking a polished, attentive Runner / Busser to support our front-of-house team and help deliver smooth, seamless service across our dining spaces. This role is responsible for getting food from the kitchen to the table accurately, quickly, and with care, and for keeping tables clear, clean, and ready for the next member. As a visible member of the service team, the Runner / Busser plays an important part in the member experience, from the first plate to the final reset.

The ideal candidate is organized, composed, and eager to learn, with a strong sense of urgency and a genuine interest in hospitality, equally comfortable running a hot plate to the table and turning a table in the middle of a busy service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in front-of-house service within a new and growing hospitality concept.

Key Responsibilities

Food Delivery & Accuracy

  • Deliver food from the kitchen to the correct table and seat position promptly and accurately, with hot food hot and cold food cold.
  • Learn the menu thoroughly, including ingredients, preparation methods, and plating, and describe dishes clearly when presenting them to members and guests.
  • Check every plate against the ticket for accuracy, presentation, and temperature before it leaves the pass, and flag any concerns to the expediter or kitchen leadership.
  • Communicate clearly with the kitchen, expediter, and servers about timing, course pacing, and any changes.
  • Take allergy and dietary notes seriously: confirm flagged orders with the server and kitchen before delivery, and never guess.

Bussing & Table Turnover

  • Clear plates, glassware, and service items quietly and efficiently, without interrupting the member experience.
  • Reset tables promptly to The June’s presentation standards, coordinating with the host and servers to keep turnover smooth and well-paced.
  • Keep bus stations, bus tubs, and dish drop areas organized, and carry soiled items to dishwashing safely and without disruption.
  • Remove trash and keep dining areas, floors, and tables clean and presentable throughout service.
  • Flag tables that are ready, and communicate clearly with the host and servers about turnover.

Dining Room Support

  • Assist servers with water and bread service and other table maintenance.
  • Anticipate needs, such as additional silverware, napkins, and condiments, and respond before a request is made.
  • Support service for private events, buyouts, and special programming as assigned.
  • Handle member and guest interactions with warmth and discretion, and refer requests and concerns to the server or a manager as appropriate.

Setup, Cleanliness & Standards

  • Complete opening and closing side work, including polishing silverware and glassware, folding napkins, stocking service stations, and setting tables.
  • Keep the pass, service stations, and dining areas clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout service.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safety procedures, including proper food handling and safe carrying techniques.
  • Report spills, hazards, broken equipment, and low supplies to a manager promptly.

Teamwork & Professionalism

  • Work collaboratively with servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen team members to keep service moving.
  • Maintain a calm, positive, and solutions-oriented approach, especially during high-volume periods.
  • Receive feedback constructively and look for opportunities to learn and grow within the front-of-house team.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, respect, and high standards across The June.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a food runner, busser, or in a similar hospitality role preferred, though we are happy to train the right person.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, especially with table numbers, seat positions, and allergy information.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to carry multiple plates, trays, and bus tubs safely, lift up to 40 lbs, and stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Current food safety certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • A proactive, team-first mindset and willingness to jump in wherever support is needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fine dining, upscale casual dining, hotels, or private clubs.
  • Interest in growing into a server, host, or other front-of-house role.
  • Experience supporting a restaurant opening or pre-opening training program.

At The June, great hospitality is in the details. We’re looking for someone who delivers every plate with care, keeps every table ready for the next member, supports their teammates, and understands that the smallest moments are often the ones members remember most.
