Role Summary:


Quality Inspector is responsible for sample management, quality inspection, and manufacturing


support.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Perform accurate analysis following appropriate standard test methods and report data ina timely manner


  • Document inspection results in logbooks, worksheets, and thelaboratory information management system


  • Verify inspection data to determineconformance and compliance to specifications.


  • Detect erroneous inspection dataand troubleshoot instrumentation to correct.


  • Ensure that all equipment is calibratedand verified before analyzing samples


  • Follow instrument and equipment checkprocedures and report any equipment problem as soon as possible


  • Exercise goodhousekeeping, including replenishing supplies, cleaning bench area, and ensuring equipmentcleanliness and readiness for use


  • Ensure proper storage or disposal of samplesafter analysis, as well as proper waste handling


  • Act as a point of contact foranswering quality related questions for the plant floor


  • Must be able to workindependently and in a team environment. Inspector will interface with the quality control teamand the manufacturing plant


  • Follow through on any tasks, assignments or projectsthat management assigns.


  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by followingstandards and procedures to ensure safety of self and of team members


  • Workovertime, weekends and holidays, as required

Qualifications/Requirements:


  • Associate degree in chemical technology, or equivalent, with 1+ years of experience as aquality control laboratory technician, or high school diploma with 3+ years of experience as qualitycontrol laboratory technician


  • Must have knowledge of basic laboratory equipmentand analytical testing procedures


  • Knowledge of basic calibration techniques andability to perform calibration of instruments as required.


  • Strong mathematical skillsincluding ability to calculate results such average, percentages, and metricconversions


  • Ability to communicate well individually and in a team


  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills


  • Good verbal and writingskills


  • Must be able to work a 12-hour schedule on days or nights

Desired Characteristics:


  • Expertise with optical and electron microscopy, tensile testing, FTIR, GPC, particle sizeanalysis, and gravimetric testing.


  • Conduct calibration of laboratory equipment or interfacewith third party calibration service technicians


  • Conduct troubleshooting and minor repair oflaboratory instruments


  • Participate in internal quality auditing


  • Advancedlaboratory data collection and analysis skills


  • Experience in a certified materials testinglab


  • Experience with polymer testing
