Title: Senior Systems Engineer - 57615


Note: This position may be located in Waterloo, IA; Moline, IL; Des Moines, IA; or Cary, NC per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.


Your Responsibilities


As a Senior Systems Engineer for John Deere, you will lead the development of requirements, infrastructure and process for the design and implementation of new programming initiatives. In addition, you will:


  • Champion the use of systems engineering methods and tools to ensure a robust and documented design and implementation for programming.


  • Identify and champion the execution of necessary PV&V methods to ensure the design is robust and meets expectations for reliability.


  • As required, support the development and implementation of programming components and tools with outside vendors and internal resources.


  • Participate with the Ecosystem programming team, as a subject matter expert, to teach and mentor enterprise development teams and downstream stakeholders in the design and methods of programming.


  • Develop and deploy necessary workflow documentation and methods to the enterprise in support of the new programming design and tools.


  • Interface with downstream stakeholders in customer service and manufacturing throughout the design and verification process to ensure new programming design and implementation is successful and aligns with customer needs.

What Skills You Need


  • Product Engineering experience related to designing and testing embedded electronic systems for mobile equipment


  • Embedded Software system design experience


  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage moderately complex and simultaneous projects and priorities


  • Technical expertise in practical system engineering design


  • Strong interpersonal skills and an excellent communicator with the ability to effectively interface with Enterprise stakeholders and suppliers


  • Capable of driving a closed loop corrective action process, including rigorous root cause analysis


  • Effective time management & organizational skills


  • Ability and willingness to travel, up to 25% (both domestic and internationally)

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Systems engineering education, training or experience


  • Multiplex communication & diagnostic design experience, specifically with CAN, ISO11783, J1939 and UDS diagnostics


  • Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) and Enterprise Technology Development process (ETDP)


  • Advanced degree in an Engineering Discipline

Education (or equivalent work experience)


  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Science or Technology discipline – preferably Electrical / Electronics Engineering
