GENERAL FUNCTION:


As a part of the network engineering job family, designs, maintains, monitors, documents and supports mainframe host integration data/voice communications hardware and software systems. Contributes on a master level to the overall strategic vision of the organization. Undertakes the most complex projects involving multiple disciplines and may impact multiple business units. Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex networking issues.


Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Designs and implements new features while improving quality of technical products and applications


  • Provide technical knowledge and leadership as an engineer on an agile squad


  • Work collaboratively with other engineers to define system architectures and design solutions


  • Create and execute long term vision of technical products and applications


  • Act as a technical expert and engineer on an agile squad


  • Drive the architecture of solutions across multiple services and applications


  • Develop software meeting code quality standards and metrics


  • Practice test-driven development


  • Drives best practices and standards and leads communities of practice to continuously refine and document these standards. Champions culture of continuous improvement, acts as thought partner by sharing knowledge and providing feedback in support of team member development


  • Maintain effective partnerships with operations and engineering teams to drive service improvement


  • Remain current on relevant technology trends


  • Solve customer problems, debug, trouble shoot, design, and implement solutions to technical issues with high complexity


  • Advanced understanding of software development and programming languages with subject matter expertise in one or more disciplines


  • Create and update operations procedures for daily routine management processes


  • Maintain appropriate controls and documentation to ensure compliance of audit requirements


  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES REQUIRED:


  • Resolves complex networking problems with full competency


  • Master level knowledge of the Cisco router, switch and firewalls


  • Advanced skills with VPN and remote access services


  • Ability to design and implement 3rd party customer connectivity solutions


  • Data Communication transport skills to include MPLS, Leased lines and ISP’s.


  • Ability to lead large complicated design and implementation projects


  • Expert level knowledge EIGRP and BGP routing protocols


  • Working Checkpoint firewall skills


  • Layer 7 firewall experience (Cisco Firepower)


  • Software defined networking (ACI & NSX) Prefer hands-on work experience


  • Working knowledge of VMware networking


  • Well versed in Cisco wireless networking


  • Cisco ISE and client 802.1x experience a plus


  • Cloud experience a plus (AWS, Azure, Zscaler)


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or comparable with 8+ years of experience


  • Masters level experience with either route/switch, Knowledge of object-oriented and functional software design


  • Knowledge of software development best practices


  • Familiarity with RESTful networking


  • Prior experience with knowledge of Git and GitHub


  • Understanding of Software Development Methodologies


  • Understanding of security best practices


  • Strong problem solving skills


  • Strong collaboration skills


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
