Position Description :

Responsible for clinical coordination and administrative duties for academic surgeons with major clinical focus and affiliated research and educational endeavors. As a member of the Department of Surgery the primary purpose of this position is to convey a positive image of UPHS through excellent communications, customer service skills scheduling to support patients/families, facility personnel and UPHS processes to ensure an excellent experience. Responsible for coordination of O.R. cases scheduled on a daily bases for the Department of Surgery. Act as a liaison between patients and physicians when appropriate. Ensure timely submission of operative notes, schedule follow up appointments with patients and provide additional information to patients (including some radiology pre-certs) on an as need bases to ensure continuity of care. Ensure compliance with established documentation requirements assist with answering office telephones when needed.

Minimum Requirements :

Education equivalent to the completion of high school and several years experience as a medical secretary are required. College degree or furthered education preferred. Flexibility in dealing with different personalities is required. Attendance at in-service presentations required while in the position.
