Job Description

The candidate in this role is an innovative, results driven professional with great people skills, deep expertise in Trade Finance Operations, and under the Standby Complex Trade Transaction, incumbent will review, consult and structure standby letters of credit transactions in accordance with established regulatory guidelines and standards, standard banking practice and JPM policies. This position will work across lines of businesses, geographies and verticals to drive broad change in systems and/or processes, improve controls and enhanced client experience for internal and external stakeholders. The operations manager will lead a team responsible for ensuring high quality service with in Trade Finance. The SBLC Structuring Manager will coordinator between Client, Legal and Product.

  • The Operations Manager role will be experienced both as an individual contributor and leader

  • Work interactively with internal and external customers to identify, develop and implement solutions for standby transactions

  • Review standby letter of credit transactions as requested by internal and external customers providing guidance and solutions

  • Lead the strategy and execution of Process Re-engineering and Continuous Improvement of workflows to support Global Trade Finance Operations

  • Responsible to drive the Innovation across the organization to identify and support process automation and improvement

  • Develop strategies and set priorities that enable successful execution to help deliver best-in-class standard

  • Drive tactical and strategic execution of key initiatives, on point for multiple projects taking appropriate action to ensure timely and effective program oversight

  • Change agent with strong credibility and influence at all levels within the organization, strong ability to influence and interact with Executive level management

  • Drive culture of Innovation through visible hands-on leadership

  • Plan and execute projects, with urgency, and ensure alignment with business strategy

  • Develop meaningful metrics to measure process quality and productivity, providing meaningful feedback to technology and business teams

  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, decision makers and colleagues to ensure organizational goals are met

  • Responsible for partnering with key stakeholders in order to understand the strategy, direction and roadmap objectives for the business

  • Responsible for management, support, career development, mobility for our people


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or other business related course of study

  • 10+ year proven track record at executive level with Trade Finance

  • Excellent knowledge of ISP 98 – International Standby Practices, ICC Publication 590, URDG 758 – Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees, ICC Publication 758 and USP 600 – Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits, ICC Publication 600

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leadership and lead a team to understand business goals and analyses opportunities

  • Demonstrated strong collaborative problem-solving skills evidenced by results in past positions

  • Strong Trade technical background, with an ability to redesign work flow and efficient throughput within Trade Finance operations

  • Strong communicator with ability to communicate with employees at all levels across the organization, from front-line associates to executives through written as well as verbal communication

  • Demonstrated Change Management experience

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, and work in fast-paced environment while managing activities of more senior people within work streams

  • Proven ability to handle confidential information appropriately

  • Willing to stand up for their ideas within appropriate guidelines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) Skills
