Position Description :

The Corporate Director of Regulatory Affairs provides leadership and strategic direction across UPHS in all aspects of continuous survey readiness for CMS, TJC, PA & NJ DOH and other accrediting organizations. The Director will work with entity senior leadership as well as quality and regulatory directors to establish processes that optimize outcomes and minimize citations in a cost effective manner. The Director provides oversight to the UPHS Office of Patient Affairs in order to ensure alignment with Risk Management and Patient Experience through adherence to CMS guidelines as well as enhancement of the patient experience.

• Develop cost effective approaches to assess regulatory readiness, collaborating with entity operations and quality in the development of standard processes and procedures.

• Provide strategic consultation and coordination in the prioritization of major areas of opportunity incorporating both internal best practices as well as external regulatory developments.

• Convene a system wide regulatory forum, regularly seeking feedback and maximizing transparent sharing of efforts and


• Support clinical integration across the system by standardizing the writing, review, updating and management of regulatory related policies. Design and implement system-wide policy management system.

• Serve as a primary point of accountability in working with IT and other core services support departments in assuring regulatory needs are met.

• Collaborate with entity operations and quality to develop standard processes and procedures related to regulatory readiness.

• With extensive input from and collaboration with entity regulatory directors, prepare annual or semi-annual reports on the state of regulatory readiness at Penn, including major risks and opportunities.

• Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures

• Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Minimum Requirements :


• Master's Degree required, in Nursing, Healthcare or Public Health preferred.

• 10+ years Healthcare regulatory experience required.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

• RN preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Understanding and experience with national accreditation and CMS standards required.

• Draft policy and communication documents in a succinct and understandable language/style required.

• Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills required.

• Demonstrated project management skills required.

• Ability to work in a highly matrixed structure required.

• Excellent collaboration and team building skills required.

• Establishes and maintains good working relationships and partnerships required.

• Knowledge of regional licensing standards preferred.
