Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer, 5 to join our Supplier Manufacturing Engineering team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.


Supplier Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for supply base technical management related to the acquisition of internal Programs hardware needs. This highly visible position requires a motivated self-starter with a manufacturing background in military aircraft composite and machined part fabrication. The process improvement focused candidate will be the point of contact for resolving supplier production questions and tooling needs. The chosen candidate will thrive in a fast pace environment where they are the technical representative for Northrop Grumman. The candidate will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, have the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of NGC and Supplier employees and leadership.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to: perform, manage and lead the engineering packages producibility & affordability review efforts. Provide Subject Matter Expertise to resolve supplier technical questions and issues related to manufacturing processes, assembly operations and tooling design. Ensure manufacturing integration between engineering, suppliers, and production teams. Perform technical evaluations (assess needs and costs) of supplier's proposals for parts, assemblies and/or tooling for Buyers. Provide a technical interface between Program IPT's and Suppliers and identify process improvement opportunities.


Qualifications:


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree with 14 years of exempt experience in an aerospace manufacturing role or in lieu of a bachelor's degree, 17 years of exempt experience in an aerospace manufacturing role; Master's Degree with 9 years of exempt experience in an aerospace manufacturing role.


  • Must have manufacturing processes hands on experience


  • Must have experience using SAP, Windows Suite and CAD design


  • Demonstrated experience with FMECA, process implementation and root cause investigation


  • Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the last 6 years


  • Ability to obtain and maintain special program access

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Prior Supplier Technical Management experience with manufacturing of military hardware


  • Experience with Siemens NX tools and Manufacturing Execution System (MES)


  • Knowledge of military requirements/standards and wire harness processes including fiber optics


  • Knowledge of FAR & DFAR requirements


  • Active DoD Top Secret with an up to date SSBI or SAP/SAR access clearance
