Invitae is seeking a full-time, HSS board-certified Associate Clinical Laboratory Director to join a clinical laboratory team that is motivated by the patient on the other end of every sample tested.

We are seeking an Associate Clinical Laboratory Director, whose job duties will include:

What you will do:

  • Ongoing involvement in overseeing laboratory processes and in review and sign out of pharmacogenomics laboratory reports from our Seattle laboratory
  • Be certified by a board approved by HSS for High Complexity testing and hold NY licensure for Seattle site
  • Support the clinical laboratory director in ongoing responsibilities, including:
  • Acts as Section Director/Technical Supervisor responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory
  • Evaluation and input into ongoing monitoring of testing processes, including troubleshooting and quality improvement activities
  • Selection, design, validation of test and transfer to the clinical laboratory
  • Ongoing awareness of regulations and best practice standards for pharmacogenomics testing and reporting
  • Compliance of licensure and regulatory requirements
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and participate in clinical and GCLP vendor audits.
  • Establishment and monitoring of performance /quality control criteria for clinical tests
  • Enrollment, performance and recording of proficiency testing
  • Resolution of technical problems and ensuring that remedial actions are taken
  • Ensure staff competency, provide training and continuing education
  • Specify in writing responsibilities of all laboratory personnel
  • Ensure robust quality control program and monitor test performance
  • Resolve technical problems, document corrective action and ensure remedial action are taken
  • Coordination across multiple groups and clinical testing site
  • Other duties, at the discretion of the Clinical Laboratory Director

Who you are:

  • Strong genetics background with proficiency in clinical genomics bioinformatics
  • Experience in pharmacogenomic testing
  • Experience with high throughput, highly automated clinical laboratory processes
  • GCLP experience preferred; MassArray experience highly desirable
  • Interest in clinical laboratory processes, regulatory requirements, and professional guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure collaboration across:
  • Molecular laboratory
  • Bioinformatics
  • Clinical reporting
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Required:
  • Ph.D., in biological science with at least 2 yrs experience in molecular diagnostics in a clinical laboratory under a HHS approved director at the doctoral level.
  • Certified by a board approved by HHS for High Complexity Testing preferably ABMGG certification in Molecular Genetics and Genomics

  • Ability and willingness to be on site in Seattle at least three days a week
