Job Description

We are looking for a Manager, Strategic Communications for our Global Communications team. This position will work with Global Communications leaders and cross-functional partners to craft the corporate story that informs our overall communications efforts, as well as strategic events, including investor days, global town halls, and McDonald’s biennial Worldwide Convention. You will help build and execute our breakthrough event strategy, engaging the full McDonald’s global System of employees, franchisees and suppliers.

This position will be based in Chicago, IL and report directly to the Director, Strategic Communications. You will be a member of the broader Global Communications team, led by Vice President, Global Communications.

In this role, you will:

  • Regularly work with cross-functional partners and Global Communications leaders to update McDonald’s corporate narrative, amplifying the narrative and our values through System events, business achievements and announcements
  • Help drive and execute breakthrough event strategy and lead coordination working with agency partners and McDonald’s in-house creative agency, leading event timelines and deliverables
  • Develop key event materials, including key messages, scripts, talking points, presentations, videos, and creative assets
  • Work closely with Media and Content teams to develop internal and external communications plans through earned and owned media to drive awareness and event participation
  • Develop strategies for providing tools and resources to global leaders, including running Leadership Communications Portal
  • Regularly set and deliver against internal and external metrics for landmark events to drive System confidence in McDonald’s business and leadership and pride


Experience in a corporate communications role, either in-house or at an agency. The ideal candidate is a proactive, organized communications leader with deep event experience and the following attributes:

  • Experience handling internal and external corporate events, including employee town halls, leadership meetings, financial events or large-scale meetings or conventions
  • Natural storyteller with excellent written and oral communications skills, including an ability to convey complex issues in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
  • Self-starter with strong sense of initiative, focused on results; ability to run multiple, simultaneous projects and, at times, within ambiguous and undefined circumstances.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build trust and influence with leaders and collaborators at all levels.
  • The ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, while being flexible and collaborative.
