Department Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is capable and willing to make maximum use of excellent facilities and a productive environment.

Our primary approach is two-fold: 1) to identify genes crucial for malignant cell viability and growth in lymphoma patients utilizing kinase inhibitor screens combined with deep sequencing of primary patient samples to identify functionally important signaling pathways required for lymphomagenesis; and 2) to test therapeutic monoclonal antibody candidates on elimination of target lymphoma cells.

Function/Duties of Position

This position will support the development of methods for the validation of gene discoveries and novel treatments as they relate to cancer. The work aims to identify additional kinase and receptor targets and to define mechanisms responsible for disease pathogenesis.

This position, working as part of a team of technicians, will support the ongoing processing of primary patient samples for use in downstream analyses. These experiments will be carried out in primary lymphoma samples as well as cell line models. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

General responsibilities include: basic molecular techniques, mammalian tissue culture, flow cytometry, and analysis of data.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least one year of relevant experience.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of coordinated team
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with computers running Windows and PC applications
  • Energy and drive to coordinate multiple experiments simultaneously
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to operate complex scientific equipment
  • Ability to learn to use new analysis software

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in a laboratory setting
  • Laboratory experience in cellular and molecular biology
  • Bachelor's degree in science or technology
