The Assistant Controller is responsible for supporting Finance management in the oversight and preparation of accounting workpapers, analyses, and reconciliations to support the issuance of financial statements and management reports. The Assistant Controller should be self-driven, adaptable, exhibit strong analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills and be passionate and client service focused.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assists with overseeing the monthly and year-end closings and responsible forthe accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.
  • Maintains the integrity of theaccounting systems, financial reports and accounting records.Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Prepares journal entries,reports, schedules and analyses for reporting requirements set forth by management.
  • Prepares consolidated financial statements by gathering and analyzing informationfrom the general ledger system and information from various entities.Ensures compliance with GAAP, assisting with taxes and audit.
  • Contributes to the development of annual operating budgets and performanceprojections.
  • Responsible for functions related to cash managementDelegates accounting tasks to accounting staff as directedResponsible for establishing and maintaining prudent financial and accounting policies,procedures and practices, including strong internal controls to safeguard the assets ofthe organization.
  • Provides day to day support ensuring the operations of the department are runningsmoothly including identifying solutions for fiscal problem resolution, articulatingfiscal policies, procedures, practices and results and championing sound, reasonablepractices and controls.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field of study.
  • 5+ years of field accounting/finance experience with demonstrated experience working with medium sized accounting systems.
  • Excellent understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulationsStrong ability to prepare financial schedules and reports in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
  • Strong analytical ability to analyze and comprehend financial statements, reports, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to analyze and conceptualize financial concepts, while able to work at a detailed levelStrong knowledge of personal computers that includes spreadsheet, data management and word processing applications.
