The Position


The Finance Manager for Aero Transportation Products (ATP) is the single point of contact for all site related financial reporting. Responsibilities include overseeing and managing the monthly financial close process, strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the business units in addition to managing financial and accounting policies, procedures and controls at two locations – Independence, MO and McPherson, KS. The Site Controller will also work with Purchasing and Manufacturing to review manufacturing costs and variances.


The position reports directly to the CFO and indirectly (dotted line) to the site General Manager. This position is a member of a cross-functional site leadership team and must be able to partner with leaders from other areas of the business including but not limited to Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management, Sales and Marketing and Human Resources, to achieve the business plan.


Key Accountabilities



  • Management of the monthly financial close process. Generating financial statements in accordance with local and US GAAP.
  • Gain and maintain deep understanding of the business unit's financial health and key drivers.
  • Development of a sound budget and 3-year strategic plan.
  • Driving business performance to meet performance commitments monitoring all KPIs.
  • Developing accurate and predictable business forecasts. Report on the financial past, present and future performance of the business unit, with a deep understanding for the drivers behind variances (including earnings, expenses and future operations). Review weekly results to forecast in order to understand potential risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate accounting practices and procedures and internal controls. Ensure complete compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements, ensuring procedures and internal controls are in place each respective business unit within the Group.
  • Support and approve capital expenditures.
  • Assist General Manager in sales and margin analysis. Determine pricing adjustments and manage surcharges.
  • Analyze labor and overhead absorption compared to spend and propose solutions.
  • Strong cost accounting and manufacturing background as understanding of costs and variances are key to the profitability of the Company. Work with Purchasing and Manufacturing to understand root cause of all cost variances.
  • Gain and maintain deep understanding of the business unit's financial health and key drivers.
  • Supervise accounting staff that handles cash collections and disbursement. Ensure group meets all deliverables with no interruption in business.
  • Lead the transformation from LC-BPCS to Oracle in partnership with IT.

Basic Qualifications



  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience in a global manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university
  • Proficient in US GAAP
  • Strong information systems/ERP system experience.
  • Travel regularly to McPherson site – 20% of time.
