Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced individual to join our External Reporting team. The External Reporting team is responsible for Autodesk's SEC filings including Forms 10K and 10Q, plays an instrumental role in the quarterly close and earnings cycle, annual Investor Day, and Proxy flings, in addition to many cross-functional business projects. This is a critical role; it provides high visibility to Autodesk leadership including the CFO and has growth potential.

The position will be located in either San Francisco/San Rafael (headquarters), California or Portland, Oregon and will report to the External Reporting Senior Manager. We will consider candidates at a Senior Analyst or Manager level based on candidate experience.


  • Preparation and tie-out of financial statements, including balance sheet, statement of operations, statement of cash flows and statement of comprehensive income, drafting of MD&A disclosures, preparation of financial statement footnote disclosures and XBRL for SEC filings (10K, 10Q, 8-K, S-3, etc.)

  • Preparation of interim and annual financial reporting disclosure checklists

  • Review and tie-out of quarterly earnings release documents

  • Preparation and tie-out of CD&A schedules and notes for the annual proxy statement

  • Provide assistance to the external auditors in their quarterly review and annual audit of SEC filings and external reporting prepared schedules

  • Prepare WASO calculations

  • Prepare technical accounting memo for non-routine transactions (e.g. investments in equity or debt securities) including accounting treatment and financial reporting disclosure

  • Perform annual (or interim as applicable) impairment assessments of goodwill

  • Perform annual (or interim as applicable) assessment of segment reporting

  • Perform quarterly strategic investment impairment and measurement alternative analysis

  • Assist in the identification and implementation of new accounting or reporting standards that relate to external reporting areas of responsibility and applicable in disclosures in SEC filings

  • Other accounting responsibilities and special projects as they arise

Minimum Qualifications

  • The candidate should possess and display the following characteristics:

  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience within public accounting (Big 4 preferred)

  • Experience working with public companies or within the software industry preferred

  • Experience and knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance related field

  • Licensed CPA or actively pursuing completion of CPA licensing preferred

  • Extremely detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

  • A solid understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and regulations

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to explain complex accounting concepts to a non-technical accounting audience

  • Workiva filing experience a plus or similar platform
