SUMMARY: The Events Coordinator will provide direct support to the Community Partnerships Manager in providing a range of school-wide events and services to new and returning students and their families. The Events Coordinator's primary purpose is to focus on the Georgia Cyber Academy community through the provision of in person and online events. This position directly supports grades K-12th with programming and opportunities for students to attend free classes, health and wellness, field trips, internships, and community service projects to build academics and life skills.

Facilitate, plan, and organize statewide field trips monthly

Seek out and note statewide partner connections to present to the Community Partnership Manger

Assist with the planning and execution of beginning and end of year statewide events

Create and send event confirmations and notices

Manage posting of events on district/school calendars monthly

Gather, organize, and send information to include in school newsletters, Family Engagement communication and other departments as necessary monthly

Take, organize, and prepare event photos to be utilized for various school media purposes

Manage event registrations and capacities

Participate in school Social Media outlets in coordination with the Social Media Specialist

Schedule and book listed events for the calendar year

Research potential event locations and activities

Work with event hosts on event logistics

Create monthly advertisements for events

Collaborate with the Georgia Cyber Academy Parent Teacher Student Organization on opportunities for event support

Collaborate with Family & Student Support Teams on event execution

Locate events for High School meet ups

Research STEM/STEAM opportunities statewide

Participate in committees, Professional Development, and opportunities as required

Participate is school and district planning

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or related field of study AND

Two (2) years of experience working with families in a similar capacity and/or facilitating community involvement OR

Equivalent combination of education and experience


Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required.


Experience working with diverse student populations

Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, OneNote, and G-Suite.

Website proficiency.

Present a positive image of the school in the broader community

Skilled in the principles and techniques of effective communications, community development, and public relations

Work effectively with school community, students, families, faculty and staff across various functions and areas

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

Three (3) years of experience working with families in a similar capacity, developing parent mentors/parent training, and/or facilitating community involvement

Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or related field of study

Management experience and skills in the principles and practices of administration, supervision, and training

Knowledge of Federal, State, District and other applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned activities

Research and analysis skills

Skilled in conflict resolution principles and techniques

Ability to prepare and control a budget

Skilled in the operation of a computer and assigned software

Experience building and delivering professional development and/or training to staff

GA PSC Teaching/Educational Certificate

TKES/LKES certified

Previous experience as an online educator

Previous experience with online educational tools/curriculum/assessments

Working knowledge of Finalsite (website)

Working knowledge of Infinite Campus (SIS)

Working knowledge of Canvas (LMS)

Working knowledge of Jigsaw (live classroom platform)

Proficient in use of Zoom (conferencing tool)


WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This is primarily a Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, 5 days/week, home-based position that may require traveling up to 50% of the time.

During critical periods, in-office days may be required. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).

In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and testing sites will be required several times per year.

Light lifting required.
