Idaho Power is looking for a new member to join our Information Technology Team. We are looking for a System Administrator who is a dynamic problem solver who can balance the necessity of security and stability, the efficiency of a public service company, and the demands of a complex industry by exercising maximum creativity. While expressing the fundamental values above, System Administrators analyze, install, configure, upgrade, document, monitor and maintain software and hardware in support of business processing requirements. This position will support Idaho Power's utility specific Outage Management and Mobile Workforce Systems.

Supported systems may include operating systems, business applications, server hardware, security tools, monitoring tools, Web servers, Application servers, Integration servers, and other departmental or enterprise applications or systems.

Performs systems administration functions for assigned applications to ensure supported systems are reliable, efficiently maintained and available in order to support customer productivity.

Provides technical support for problems not resolved by the IT Operations Center or IT Service Desk.

Experience & Knowledge of:

  • Windows Server 2016, 2019 – administration, configuration, and deployment
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux – administration, configuration, and deployment
  • Troubleshooting systems in a load-balanced multi-datacenter environment
  • Web Services: IIS, Apache Tomcat, etc.
  • Web Security Principles: SSL, TLS, Integrated Security, Certificates, etc.
  • Enterprise automation practices and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.
  • SCCM Client Deployment
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS


  • Outage Management & Mobile Workforce Systems in a medium to large environment
  • CGI PragmaLINE & CGI PragmaCAD
  • DevOps Methodology & Tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Git, Azure DevOps, etc.

System Admin I


  • Associate's degree in related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience


  • 2+ years relevant IT experience

System Admin II


  • Bachelor's Degree in CIS (computer information systems) or equivalent field, OR a combination of relevant education and experience


  • 5+ years of professional IT experience

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science


Occasional server lifting and carrying.


Works with regular guidance in own area of knowledge. Solves a range of straightforward problems, analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.
