CAN Community Health, one of the nation's largest providers of HIV Services, has an exciting opportunity for a Front Desk Receptionist/Patient Experience Expert in Ybor (Tampa), FL. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Starting Salary $20.00 to $22.00 (based upon education level, background, and experience).

Statement of Purpose: This position is responsible for Front Desk Office Administration.


Essential Functions: Front Desk Receptionist/Patient Experience Expert

  1. Accurately learns EMR system.
  2. Greets and directs all clinic patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
  3. Professionally and effectively answers and routes all phone calls.
  4. Creates new billing batch in EMR each morning
  5. Collects payments for daily visits and account balances
  6. Accurately enters all payments into EMR
  7. Verifies that current insurance cards are on file
  8. Makes copies of current insurance cards for EMR when needed
  9. Accurately enters and maintains accurate insurance information for patients in EMR
  10. Updates consents and privacy policy yearly
  11. Verifies patient's demographics at each visit
  12. Distribute all clinic mail and faxes
  13. Coordinate patient transportation if needed.
  14. Promotes and practices CAN Community Health Inc's mission and values and follows its policies and procedures.
  15. Ensures confidentiality is maintained by entire team regarding patient/client information in accordance with HIPAA, professional and departmental standards.

Secondary Tasks: Front Desk Receptionist/Patient Experience Expert

  1. Assists Check Out, Medical Records, and RN/LPN with administrative/clerical tasks when requested
  2. Maintains adequate stock of office supplies.
  3. Works effectively and professionally with a diverse population treating all staff, patient and clients with respect at all times.
  4. Performs all other duties as required.

Education/Professional: Front Desk Receptionist/Patient Experience Expert

Associate Degree and/or business equivalent


Experience: Front Desk Receptionist/Patient Experience Expert

Three years of office experience required.

Minimum of one year experience in a medical office setting with medical records and/or front office.

Minimum of one year experience in a medical office setting with medical records and/or front office.

Knowledge of electronic medical records systems preferred.

  3. Ability to deal with a diverse clientele both in person and over the phone.
  4. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical office procedures, referrals, and EMR system
  5. Knowledge of office equipment including multi-line phone system.
  6. Proficient with computer software programs including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  7. Ability to be highly organized and focused on details and accuracy.
  8. Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
  9. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  10. High comfort working in a diverse environment.


Work Environment: Front Desk Receptionist/Patient Experience Expert

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, audio visual, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  1. Neat, professional appearance.
