GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

As a part of HBI’s Executive Team, the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Development plays a pivotal role in fostering meaningful connections and driving our organizational strategy to cultivate essential partnerships with contributors and funders. This role oversees the entire fundraising lifecycle, from concept inception to successful execution, while providing critical fundraising insights to shape organizational decisions. This leadership position is dedicated to expanding both unrestricted and programmatic revenue streams with an unwavering growth-oriented mindset.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising Strategy and Management:

  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify and assess potential funding sources that align with our mission, values, and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee fundraising systems and processes to ensure they are well-designed and effectively managed.
  • Set and monitor revenue targets, maintaining a clear view of the business pipeline.
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of reports to funders, responding to their priorities.

Relationship Building and Partnership Development:

  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including contributors, funders, industry partners, and government entities.
  • Lead prospecting, solicitation, and partnership development efforts for key accounts, focusing on retention activities.
  • Collaborate with local, state, and national teams to equip them with tools, capacity-building, and messaging for effective organizational relationship management.
  • Formulate and implement an outreach strategy aligned with organizational goals, targeting various market sectors for sustainable funding growth.
  • Create and execute plans to cultivate, steward, and solicit current and prospective financial partners.

Strategic Planning and Process Optimization:

  • Develop annual operating plans that align with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Optimize strategic partnership processes and account management cadences, utilizing tools like Salesforce and internal project management resources.
  • Lead solution development and partner impact reporting, closely monitoring key performance indicators for our portfolio.
  • Drive process improvements and best-in-class practices to enhance fundraising efficiency.

Communication and Marketing Strategies

  • Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team to create and implement ongoing marketing strategies to raise awareness among potential funding sources.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across various local, state, and national teams to strengthen organizational relationships

Resource Acquisition and Financial Stewardship:

  • Secure financial support through effective prospecting, solicitation, and partnership development efforts.
  • Monitor fiscal activities and adhere to budget allocations to ensure financial stewardship.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and offer training to enhance growth and overall organizational performance within all HBI departments.

Talent Management

  • Recruit, train and supervise assigned staff.
  • Evaluate job performance and complete performance evaluations for assigned staff.
  • Handle all personnel matters in a discreet and confidential manner, consulting with appropriate management and/or staff before any disciplinary action is taken with any HBI employee.
    • Assume responsibility in promoting teamwork and coordinating training for all assigned staff.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: HBI staff at all levels, HBI Board of Trustees

External: Wide variety of industry, government, NAHB members, funding agencies, education institutions, corporate and philanthropic partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Education: BA/BS degree in related field or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience.

Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in fundraising and/or working with contracts, including supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience:
  • Raising resources directly for programs.
  • Salesforce proficiency.
  • Executive or C-Suite level experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, emphasizing the ability to persuade and influence others around ideas, decisions, and financial support in individual and group settings; confidence to assert, present perspective, engage others, and influence outcomes.
  • Highly effective relationship-building skills, including one-to-one interpersonal networking; ability to leverage and communicate effectively with diverse audiences: executive leaders, board members, donors, constituents, and staff.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (ex. presentations – oral and written).
  • Demonstrated ability in problem analysis and problem resolution at both strategic and functional levels.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Usual office-type working conditions. Routine physical conditions include walking, carrying, standing, hearing/listening, and sitting. 25% travel required.
