USAID’s Bureau for Planning, Learning and Resource Management (PLR), Office of Development Cooperation (PLR/DC). PLR/DC is a dynamic, fast-paced office that works to coordinate and strengthen USAID engagement and partnership with international partners, including bilateral and multilateral donors and philanthropic organizations. 

We are seeking a Multilateral Program Assistant to be responsible for supporting USAID efforts to advance the global development priorities of the U.S. Government on the international stage. You will track multilateral policy issues; build relationships with international partners; participate in high-level meetings; and support other emerging priorities, as required. You will be responsible for assisting the PLR/DC Multilateral Affairs Team with reviewing, collecting, and organizing multilateral documents and contributing to communications and briefing materials for Agency leadership. 

Responsibilities

  • Draft briefing papers, talking points, and other materials for Agency leadership, often under very tight deadlines.
  • Prepare Agency leadership for participation in international meetings and/or negotiations.
  • Build and maintain Agency relationships with multilateral partners.
  • Build relationships and maintain routine communication with interagency colleagues on issues related to diplomatic engagement and multilateral affairs.
  • Collect and analyze information on United Nations (UN) policies and activities.
  • Draft meeting notes, correspondence, reports, summaries, and other documents.
  • Plan and organize USAID’s participation in international events and meetings with international partners.
  • Support knowledge management on multilateral affairs and philanthropic engagement.
  • Collect and respond to requests for information.
  • Support communications and manage shared organized electronic filing systems.
  • Track correspondence and manage deadlines and clearances for the Multilateral Affairs Team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree and 3 year of related experience.  
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Current Secret level security clearance preferred.
  • Background in international development or multilateral affairs.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Experienced with drafting and editing a wide variety of written products, including briefing memos, strategy papers, discussion notes, etc.
  • Highly motivated with an acute attention to detail and the ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to work independently to deliver high-quality work products.
  • Experience with multilateral organizations preferred.
