Job Description

The Licensed Electrician is the Maintenance Lead, responsible for coordinating the daily efforts of the maintenance work force. In addition, this position performs advanced (senior-level) installation, maintenance, oversight, and repair work, and plans electrical systems additions or modifications on secondary circuits. Works on secondary electrical systems that are 1000 volts and below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Schedules work and supervises the activities of the maintenance work force under the direction of the Facilities Director.

2. Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.

3. Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.

4. Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.

5. Repairs and maintains motor control centers and programmable logic controls (1000 volt and below).

6. Plans electrical secondary system additions or modifications.

7. May perform work of lower-level electricians.

8. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

9. Reads, employs, and updates electrical panel schedules.

10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

11. Schedule 8pm-430pm M-F. Must be a Part of the Manager on Duty rotation.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:

Education – High School Diploma/equivalent.

Experience – Minimum of six (6) years’ experience (12,000 hrs.) installing, modifying, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems as Master Electrician.

Licensure and/or Certification – Current Master Electrician License issued by the North Carolina State board. Must be willing to have ABM as the license holder.

Valid driver license from state of residence.

Regulatory Knowledge – Working knowledge of Electrical systems. Master level understanding of electrical codes (NEC), working knowledge of building codes such as Fire Codes (NFPA), American with Disabilities Act, etc. and ability to learn how they apply to CPCC facilities. The ability to rapidly assimilate information related to Texas State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Maintenance Knowledge – Skill in the use of hand and power tools and equipment to accomplish electrical tasks involved in maintenance, repair, dismantling, construction, refresh, and remodeling of the building structures. Ability to learn a variety of processes, procedures, methods, various standard materials, and supplies applicable to constructing, remodeling, maintaining, and repairing office buildings and other structures. Ability to learn procedures for and to operate related equipment and diagnostic tools safely and effectively. Ability to learn and effectively apply procedures for maintaining and making minor repairs to tools, meters, testing equipment, and machinery. Work safely and effectively in environments they may involve dirt, noise, moving equipment, and other adverse factors. Ability to bend various sizes of singular and multiple conduits by hand (using bending tools). Ability to apply proper methods, techniques, and procedures in accomplishing a wide variety of repair, renovation, and construction projects. Understanding of basic mathematics, calculations, blueprints, schematics, charts and symbols appropriate to the trade.

Technology (computers/hardware/software/operating systems) – Must possess appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems and be able to learn new software/systems such as a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to open/close assigned work orders. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.

Safety – Must be able to always work in safe manner, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices.
