Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer on an interim basis, and partnering and working very closely with the Director, Human Resources, the experienced and capable HR Manager will be the bridge between the employees and the Director, Human Resources, and Chief People Officer. A key role for the HR Manager is to be visible and present with employees, effectively adopting a balanced mix of advocating for employees and supporting the management team. The HR Manager must be well-known by employees, routinely visible and accessible to establish relationships and build trust so that employees and supervisors feel comfortable coming to them with queries, grievances, conflicts, and more. The HR Manager must possess strong communication skills, empathy, and emotional intelligence. Functionally, the HR Manager must be able to manage, with limited supervision and direction, assigned HR workstreams such as benefits administration, performance management, and compensation programs under the direction of the Director, Human Resources. In addition, the HR Manager must be able to implement and drive other strategic HR initiatives as assigned that support the organization's strategic plan under the direction of the Director, Human Resources. The HR Manager will also help identify process improvements for the overall HR functions. The HR Manager will have an HR Coordinator directly reporting to them and serve as the backbone of the operation HR service delivery of the organization.

You'll be a great fit if:

  • BA/BS Degree preferred (major in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Psychology, Labor Relations, Business Management, or related field) or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required.
  • 5+ years' experience as a Human Resources Manager or HR Business Partner
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience leading a team.
  • High Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong project management, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work in a demanding and dynamic fast-paced environment with the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong desire to consistently perform at high levels, achieve the best, motivate others, and commit to creating a world-class HR function/team.
  • Approachable, professional, positive attitude that leads to the creation of effective.
  • relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of California and federal employment and wage & hour laws.
  • Professional Designation PHR/SPHR and/or HR Management Certificate a plus.
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus.
