Westminster Village is currently seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to join our team as the Director of Life Enrichment. In this role you will be responsible for the planning, coordinating, and directing of a wide and varied scope of activities and programming which meet the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational, social, physical, and environmental needs of the residents. Duties:
- Responsible for the Life Enrichment and Wellness services of Westminster Village for Assisted Living and Independent living areas.
- Implements programing across the 7 Dimensions of Wellness for our residents.
- Provide necessary adaptations to meet individual resident needs.
- Develop, schedule, and implement special events and programs.
- Work with the Director of Marketing to provide content for websites and social media outlets.
- Manage the resident transportation program for the community.
- Coordinate services to maximize resident participation in all areas of Westminster Village including Independent, Assisted Living, and Martin Health Center.
- Network with outside community organizations on behalf of Westminster Village to enhance the resident services program for our community and to create outreach opportunities for the residents.
- Review and resolve departmental complaints and grievances communicating to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief People Officer (as needed) of action(s) taken as appropriate.
- Implement and communicate department and organization policies and procedures.
- Lead department employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
- Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict and expeditious conflict resolution, and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, supportiveness, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the department to succeed.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- General oversight of all department publications for Independent Living & Assisted Living.
- Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department while working with the Wellness division to implement and follow their budget.
- Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals.
- Plan, evaluate, and improve resident services, processes, and procedures to enhance resident satisfaction while enhancing speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
- Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the department.
- Maintain transparent communication. Appropriately communicate organization information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, appropriate email, and regular interpersonal communication.
- Evaluate resident issues about resident services and determine appropriate course of action.
- Attend educational meetings planned for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent, or 5 years of experience in a senior living facility. Specialization in therapeutic recreation, gerontology or other similar areas for education is preferred. Training in event planning/implementation. Previous work experience working with the senior population. Employee background checks must be clear of convictions as described in policy.
