The Trial Attorney (Chicago) position offers a unique opportunity to work remotely and handle complex litigation cases involving the corporation and its insured. As a member of the AmFam legal team, you will have the chance to advocate for clients in various forums and develop expertise in specific areas of practice. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Legal and requires an Illinois license and the ability to travel throughout Cook and adjacent counties.

As a Trial Attorney, you will handle moderately complex litigation cases within established corporate guidelines and applicable professional standards. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing and evaluating cases as litigation progresses, seeking settlements when appropriate
- Conducting discovery, including written interrogatories, document requests, and depositions
- Drafting all necessary pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Conducting legal research to support drafting activities
- Advocating for clients in various forums and circumstances, including state and federal court, alternative dispute resolution, and administrative tribunals
- Staying current on state statutes and court decisions and analyzing their impact on policy provisions
- Developing expertise in specific areas of practice, such as special property, workers' compensation, environmental law, or commercial coverage
- Litigating in the Chicagoland area

- Insurance litigation experience
- Experience with civil pleadings, motions, and discovery, as well as deposing witnesses
- Solid understanding of Illinois rules of Professional Responsibility
- Knowledge of tort, contract, and insurance law
- Illinois license
- Located in or near Chicago
- Ability to travel throughout Cook and adjacent counties
- Admission to the State Bar in state where located, or eligibility for admission and obtaining admission within one year of hiring
- Juris Doctor degree

- Minimum: $107,000 per year
- Maximum: $181,000 per year
- Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic location

- Full-time remote work (60-70% of time spent working from home)
