Upstate Medical University is looking for a Recreational Therapist to join their dynamic team of expert professionals.
The Recreational Therapist will provide recreation programs to patients on the Nursing - Psychiatry Unit. Working within a multi-disciplinary treatment team, responsibilities include: maintaining structured, daily programs and group therapies; monitor and report patient participation and progress; organize monthly activity plans, and participate in treatment planning meetings. Provide education and training to Mental Health Workers for activity plans and participate in treatment planning meetings. Provide education and training to Mental Health Workers for group therapy and recreational therapy. Excellent communication skills, critical thinking and crisis management skills are necessary.

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field and one year of professional recreation experience in a therapeutic, instructional or rehabilitation setting required. Certified Therapeutic Rec Specialist (issued by NCTRC) required.
