Summary

Be a part of our Martin Equipment family! The shop foreman is responsible for training and ensuring that all work is carried out in the shop. The shop foreman coordinates the repair and maintenance activities. The shop foreman monitors parts usage to ensure availability of parts and supplies to meet customer demand, and acts as an advisor to the technicians in resolving the more complex repair and servicing problems.

Essential Functions

• Assign scheduled work to department staff to meet repair and maintenance needs
• Check the quality of work being done in the shop and assist mechanics, as necessary, to ensure jobs are completed properly.
• Track parts usage to prevent shortages which could interfere with work flow
• Inspect equipment for damage and document equipment before equipment goes out
• Provide training and assistance to staff technicians
• Fill in for the Service Manager when needed
  
  

Education And Experience

• Verbal, mathematical and technical skills usually acquired with a high school diploma.
• Seven to ten years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Strong knowledge of equipment utilization and safety requirements.
• Scheduling and supervisory experience desirable.
  
  

Physical Demands

• Standing for extended periods.
• Stooping, reaching, and bending for extended periods.
• Lifting of 50 pounds.
• Operation of a personal computer/terminal.
• Hearing adequate to communicate by telephone and in person.
• Vision adequate to examine equipment and manuals.
• Ability to work closely with others.
• Manual dexterity.
  
  

Personal Protective Equipment

• All required PPE is provided by Martin Equipment and includes, but is not limited to, protective glasses, gloves, and boots.
  
  

Work Environment

• Exposure to petroleum solvents, paints and fumes (80%)
• Exposure to extreme heat or cold (20%)
• Operation of mechanical equipment.
