Job Summary: The Data Analyst is tasked with harnessing data to drive strategic insights and decisions across the organization. This role entails the careful analysis and testing of new data pipelines, the creation of SQL views for various healthcare-related datasets, and the development of compelling dashboards and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include the rigorous analysis and interpretation of data to uncover trends and inform business strategies. The Data Analyst will streamline data processes, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of information across departments. Collaboration with the rest of the Engineering team and other cross-functional teams is key to align data initiatives with organizational goals.

The ideal candidate brings both expert analytical skills and communication skills, adept at project management and fluent in communicating complex data insights to stakeholders. Proficiency in AWS services and a solid foundation in statistical analysis will distinguish top applicants. This position represents a critical opportunity to influence the organization's data-driven culture and contribute to its success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the engineering team and department stakeholders to identify and document requirements for new data pipelines, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Partner with data engineers to test and validate new data pipelines, providing feedback and ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Design and create SQL views to generate new datasets tailored to specific business needs.
  • Help organize and maintain a repository of SQL views and datasets, ensuring they are up-to-date, accurate, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Build, maintain, and validate internal dashboards using data visualization tools, ensuring they effectively communicate key metrics and insights.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present recurring and ad hoc reports to internal teams and external partners, offering key findings and actionable insights.
  • Help prepare data features for use in further analysis and machine learning models.
  • Conduct comprehensive data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and insights; present findings in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Utilize statistical methods to support analysis and generate comprehensive business reports.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of data reporting and analysis processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Health Informatics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience in managing and creating SQL queries and views.
  • Experience in building dashboards and reports with tools like Tableau, Power BI, or AWS Quicksight.
  • Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and disseminate large amounts of information.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, capable of translating complex data into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data and understanding of compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC2) is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and experience with statistical software (R, Python, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with AWS services, particularly in data management and analytics (Athena, QuickSight, SageMaker, Glue, S3, etc.)
  • Experience working with Medical Claims data, clinical informatics, and other healthcare information.
  • Familiarity with AWS Athena for building views or running ad-hoc queries on large datasets.
  • Certification in AWS (such as AWS Certified Data Analytics) is a significant plus.
