Position Overview

Hunger Free Oklahoma is seeking a full-time Senior Manager of Food and Health to join the team in support of building coordination, collaboration, and connection between efforts and

stakeholders focused on food is medicine and nutrition. The ideal candidate is an effective and strategic verbal and written communicator, collaborator, analyzer, and facilitator. They prioritize excellent customer service through research and collaborative decision making to provide thoughtful, dynamic, and creative solutions.

Status: Full Time, Exempt

Salary: Starting at $78,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience

Who We Are

Hunger Free Oklahoma is a statewide nonprofit established to leverage the power of collaboration to solve hunger in Oklahoma by improving systems, policies, and practices, facilitating public/private partnerships, and providing backbone support to existing organizations addressing hunger. Hunger Free Oklahoma’s primary focus is to collaboratively work with community-based

organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders who directly serve individuals. We provide support through technical assistance, convening, research, and policy guidance to nonprofits, government, and other stakeholders statewide.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Senior Manager of Food and Health will focus on creating collective impact in the Oklahoma food is medicine ecosystem, working with practitioners to bring programs to scale, and working with key stakeholders to implement policy that increases access to nutritious food. The role will evolve over time, but the core of your work will be:

  • Strengthening Food Is Medicine and Food Security Network – Build working knowledge of food is medicine programs and federal nutrition programs; research trends in food is medicine programs and policy; conduct and maintain a landscape analysis of food is medicine programs and opportunities in Oklahoma; develop strong relationships, networks, and strategic partnerships across Oklahoma; serve as a resource, consultant, and facilitator
  • Developing Resources – Utilize research, best practices, and data to inform strategy and develop new resources, training, and support tools; collect data and feedback to inform program improvements
  • Managing Projects – Manage and support projects; maintain project management documents and tools; incorporate continuous learning and improvement; effectively manage multiple stakeholders; develop and implement outreach, communication, and technical assistance strategies;
  • Supporting and Facilitating Coalitions – Identify existing coalitions or gaps in coordination; develop coalitions or support existing efforts to increase collaboration; facilitate meetings; recruit, communicate and engage with partners to advance council/coalition work; serve as an organizational representative on external coalitions; identify, develop, and distribute training and capacity building resources to partners;coordinate with HFO staff to ensure relevant staff participation

Who You Are

To qualify for this job, you will:

  • Have 8 or more years of relevant experience; OR 8 years in a combination of post-secondary education or training and relevant work experience
  • Possess excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective at working in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Skilled in data analysis (preferred)
  • Familiar with public policy at the state and/or federal level (preferred)
  • Previous work experience or education in public health, nutrition, dietetics, or a related field (preferred)

To be successful in this job, you will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in MS Office Suite, and excel in the areas described below. A background in project management, community development, and/or customer service is a plus but not required.

This position is full-time and based in Oklahoma City or Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role requires the ability to independently travel to sites across the state for up to 25% of working time and may require occasional evening and weekend work to support events and programming. This position requires the ability to perform medium physical effort consisting of occasionally handling, lifting, or moving objects 20-30 pounds for handling resources and supplies, and to sit or stand to complete office-oriented work up to 8 hours a day.
