Salary Information:

Assistant Professor: Annual Minimum Salary-$91,700-Annual Maximum Salary-$154,000 for Full Time Status (For 12 hours/week=annual minimum salary-$27,512.16-annual maximum salary-$46,200.96)

Associate Professor: Annual Minimum Salary-$105,400-Annual Maximum Salary-$177,100 for Full Time Status (For 12 hours/week=annual minimum salary-$31,618.08-annual maximum salary-$53,127.36)

Professor: Annual Minimum Salary-$121,300-Annual Maximum Salary-$203,700 for Full Time Status (For 12 hours/week=annual minimum salary-$36,391.68-annual maximum salary-$61,108.32)

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Pro-rated based on hours/week.

Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.

The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.

PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. General Summary:

Pacific Northwest University invites applications for part-time faculty at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the developing School of Occupational Therapy. The faculty member will function as a member of the developing MSOT program under the direction of the Program Director. The emphasis will be on the development of curriculum and assessment and other duties as assigned by the Program Director. Candidates with prior experience teaching aging-related coursework are especially encouraged to apply.

Essential Job Functions:

Scholarship of Teaching

  • Developing course materials in specialized area of expertise including writing course syllabi and developing appropriate instructional methods
  • Teaching courses assigned in content area of expertise and meeting program standards for student and peer evaluations
  • Developing and administering student assessments including exams, quizzes, and assignments, as appropriate
  • Enhancing expertise in teaching content areas through continuing education, practice, and using current literature in teaching content
  • Participating in ongoing curriculum and program assessment
  • Meeting all classes as scheduled; reporting final grades at the designated time; having an appropriate number of office hours
  • Maintaining licensure and certification as appropriate

University-wide Essential Functions

  • Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
  • Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU
  • Other duties as assigned (perform and report on any other reassigned duties for the program)

Requirements

Education:

  • Required:
  • Earned doctoral degree (can include an OTD) awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE)
  • Licensed or eligible for OT licensure in Washington State
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an academic setting
  • Record of scholarly productivity commiserate with rank
  • Record of institutional and professional service commiserate with rank
  • Documented expertise in area of teaching as well as delivery method
  • Preferred:
  • Additional professional qualifications (e.g., other specialty certification, or additional degree)
  • Academic doctorate degree (PhD, EdD, DSc); ABD candidates may be considered

Experience:

  • Preferred: Prior experience in working with rural and underserved populations, prior experience in interprofessional education and simulation
