Position Description

Position Title: Education Coordinator

Classification: Exempt (Administrative)

Department: Education

Effective: Available as of 4/14/24

Reporting Relationships

Position Reports To: Director of Education

Departments Supervised: None

Position Summary

Support all aspects of the Education Department, including Children's Series productions, Camps, and Community Class programming.

Essential Functions And Basic Duties

Contribute to the growth, marketing, and development Theater's Education department.

Conduct research on Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) plays through scripts and local productions.

Manage play selection and rights negotiation for the Children's Series, informed by surveys, feedback, and national trends.

Cultivate relationships with publishing houses to secure rights and negotiate royalties for Children's Series productions.

Develop informative study guides for each production based on Florida Standards.

Coordinate community classes and camps, including on-site supervision during sessions.

Provide instruction for select K-12 Saturday and Summer Camps as needed.

Assist in school workshops, including scheduling and training interns and contracted teachers.

Supervise Acting/Education Interns' weekly schedules.

Interview, onboard, train, and schedule Summer Education Interns.

Support coordination and training of interns during the season.

Seek new funding sources and opportunities for Education programming expansion.

Assist in scheduling and marketing school matinee performances, and facilitate pre-show and post-show discussions.

Collaborate with local teachers to promote Shakespeare in schools.

Manage United Arts invoicing for educational programming.

Oversee Sensory Friendly programming.

Assist with loading and unloading buses during field trip performances.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: BS/BA degree preferred in education, theater, or equivalent discipline.

Experience: Two years of education experience preferred. Skills/experience in K-12 teaching, internet streaming, or remote learning are advantageous.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, budgeting and word processing software, ticketing systems, and classroom software.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary work requiring sitting, with occasional talking and hearing.

Work Environment: Low noise level.
