Job Description

As the world works and lives faster, FIS is leading the way.  Our fintech solutions touch nearly every market, company and person on the planet. Our teams are inclusive and diverse. Our colleagues work together and celebrate together. If you want to advance the world of fintech, we’d like to ask you: Are you FIS?

About the team:

We are the FIS Automated Finance team, and we build software to unlock intelligent cash management, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivables (AR) for some of the largest companies in the world. We are recognized as an industry leader for Order-to-Cash, utilizing ML and AI for intelligent automation, and AP optimization using Virtual Cards, but we’re not stopping there. We are building new features for our customers, accelerating time-to-value, and unlocking AP & AR services for the larger FinTech platform, to enable developers across all verticals to easily consume our services.

About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Front End Software Engineer to help us build a brand-new financial technology platform for the future. This is a builder role, inventing solutions that meet our customer needs in a new space. We are looking for someone who will take a high margin product and turbo charge it with high growth sustainably. We look for people who operate like owners, who love to learn, have grit, and operate with integrity and empathy. Building and maintaining modern UIs across platforms is your specialty, and you aren’t afraid of making changes to make progress. Whether it’s driving architecture, test strategies at scale, or deconstructing a complex process to find a straightforward solution – you’re a dedicated problem solver. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. Your skills and passion will stand out — and set you apart. We welcome diverse perspectives and people who are not afraid to challenge assumptions.

Note: We have a hybrid work environment in our Seattle/Bellevue office unless the role or business dictates otherwise.

What you will be doing:

  • Translate complex financial requirements into clean, maintainable, scalable, and well documented code.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications and systems that provide value to end-users.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms, data usage, and cloud services for latency, availability, and cost.
  • Debug and troubleshoot software issues to ensure business continuity, and a high bar for end-user experience.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Write unit & integration tests, implement observability, and comply with best practices for builds and deployment to ensure the quality and reliability of our platform.
  • Provide live on-call support by participating in the team on-call rotation and owning production issues from root cause analysis to resolution to future prevention.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design, security, compliance etc.) to bring ideas to life
  • Build and own responsive interfaces for critical user journeys.
  • Build secure, robust, scalable, and performant reusable frontend components with a keen eye for usability.
  • Translating designs and wireframes into modern highly response user interfaces.
  • Set and maintain high standards of technical excellence across the team.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help hire new talent to build a stronger team.

What you will need:

  • At a minimum, a Bachelor's in CS or equivalent education and either 2+ years of relevant professional experience or advanced degree such as a master’s or PhD.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading projects from architectural design to production, while setting and maintaining high standards of technical excellence across your team.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, and a history of collaborating effectively with your team and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience or interest in building FinTech, payment, or banking systems.

Added bonus if you have:

  • Typical qualifications for the role are 3+ years of relevant professional experience or equivalent advanced education.
  • Experience building user interfaces for financial products, or high scale consumer products.
  • Proficiency in modern development frameworks and languages. (e.g., Java, Python, Go).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git).
  • Experience with DevOps practices like continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
  • A strong understanding of security best practices for building enterprise applications.
  • Experience w/ frontend frameworks/languages such as React, Redux, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Experience with testing and A/B experimentation frameworks, tools, and methodologies including jest, selenium, cypress, mocha chai.
