Painter/Upholsterer Helper - #9847889

Painter/Upholsterer Helper: Upholsters by replacing fabrics, and fillings and the application of paper and/or fabric material to components. Sprays and brushes surfaces of manufactured products with protective or decorative material such as paint, stain, enamel, glaze or lacquer. The hours are 4/10’s from Tuesday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime as needed. Starting pay is $13.00 hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Applies materials to components to complete the orders according to specifications
• Measure and cut fabric or paper pieces with cutting tools to precise sizes and dimensions
• Inspect material and product before application
• Cleans product prior to applying any coating
• Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not coated
• Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface
• Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color
• Pour coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose
• Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray
• Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat
• Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush
• Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of various upholstery techniques and/or installation of wallpaper or fabric material
• Ability to use upholstery tools
• Accuracy and precision in carrying out assigned tasks
• Knowledge of upholstery materials and their application techniques
• Be able to differentiate between colors, matching, patterns or detecting any difference between colors they work with.
• They should possess a high level of skills in mixing and blending paints, and in applying those using spray equipment, rollers or brushes.
• Knowledge of different painting methods suitable for each specific painting job.
• Understands and executes written and oral instructions
• Must pass a criminal background check & drug screening.
  
  

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands, fingers, handle, reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear.
