Position Details

Supervises: CNA Trainee, CNA, Senior CNA, LPN, RN, Unit Clerk
Compensation And Benefits
The Nurse Manager is responsible for implementing strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety, and an outstanding patient/resident/family experience. This role fosters staff development, staff empowerment, collegial relationships, and best practices in nursing care. The Nurse Manager allocates resources to promote efficient, effective, compassionate, and fiscally responsible nursing care. This role also ensures the coordination of care across department lines through systems that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and communication. The Nurse Manager participates in the recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel and ensures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and ongoing professional development for those accountable to them.

- Base Salary: USD $90,000 to $100,000

Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management:
- Implement strategies for quality, patient safety, and outstanding patient/resident/family experience.
- Create an environment that fosters staff development and empowerment.
- Promote collegial relationships and best practices in nursing care.
- Allocate resources for efficient, effective, compassionate, and fiscally responsible care.
- Coordinate care across departments to ensure interdisciplinary collaboration and communication.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel.
- Ensure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and professional development.
- Customer Focus:
- Model and lead according to Healing Environment principles, ensuring professional conduct, effective communication, and a safe, respectful care environment.
- Promote dignity, respect, and well-being through healthy relationships and work behavior.
- Population-Specific Care:
- Provide care appropriate to the age of patients/residents served.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles and ability to assess data reflective of patient status.
- Interpret appropriate information to identify age-specific patient/resident needs.
- Exposure Control:
- Manage tasks with potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissue.
- Anticipate occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program.
- License: Current NYS License to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing or long-term care (LTC) experience.
- Skills and Certifications: Interpersonal skills, management systems knowledge, analytical skills, basic management competencies, project management skills, ability to work under pressure, familiarity with DOH requirements, computer literacy (word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint).
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field, or a Master's in Nursing or related field.
- Experience: Previous management/leadership experience.
- Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Meditech.
- Seniority Level: Mid-Senior
- Management Experience Required: No
- Minimum Education: Associate's Degree
- Willingness to Travel: Occasionally
- Required:
- 2 years of nursing experience or 2 years of LTC experience
- Current NYS License to practice as a Registered Nurse
- 2 years of consistent managerial experience in an LTC setting
