    A Place for Mom is seeking an experienced professional with strong business and financial acumen to join our team as the Director of Sales Compensation.  As a senior leader in the organization, this role is responsible for all aspects of sales compensation strategy, design and administration.  This role works cross functionally to develop variable compensation plans across multiple roles and levels that will motivate and retain our talented sales team  and ensures employees receiving variable compensation are paid accurately and timely, following all relevant compliance guidelines.  This role reports to the Vice President, Corporate Controller.

    Who you are:

    With an extensive background in a leadership role in variable compensation, you are comfortable and confident working directly with individual sales representatives, sales leaders, finance, payroll, human resources and others throughout the organization to design and administer the variable compensation process.  You have a proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives to increase the quality and efficiency of the process.  You are also proficient at collecting and analyzing large/complex datasets to create reports for monitoring performance and driving business decisions.

    What you will do:

    • Own and administer all variable compensation plans, ensuring they are documented properly with a sufficient level of detail, and updating the plans as needed
    • Calculate variable compensation for each individual on a variable compensation plan on a monthly, quarterly, annual cadence as needed.  Work with HR and Payroll to ensure all employees are paid accurately and timely
    • Streamline and optimize the process of calculating variable compensation, ensuring the proper controls are in place to ensure variable compensation is calculated and paid correctly. 
    • Develop and execute initiatives that will improve efficiency, quality, and control of the variable compensation process
    • Evaluate opportunities to upgrade existing tools and systems with available internal resources or an external sales compensation tool
    • Prepare and present results of sales compensation to senior leadership, identifying insights, trends or themes and recommendations for potential changes
    • Develop and distribute reports for sales managers to summarize performance of their teams, using data that can drive business decisions
    • Maintain a database of employees on variable compensation plans which includes performance and payment data that can be used for reporting and analysis
    • Prepare and deliver ad-hoc analyses as needed
    • Lead variable compensation plan design reviews.  Present recommendations for changes and improvements.  Lead analyses to model the impact of potential changes to facilitate decision making


    Required Skills and Competencies:

    • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in sales compensation, with experience leading the sales compensation function
    • Demonstrated experience owning and administering variable compensation plans
    • Skilled at communicating professionally and succinctly with individual sales representatives and sales management to answer questions and resolve pain points
    • Exceptional executive communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with executives within sales, finance, HR, and others
    • Demonstrated experience improving processes and leveraging systems/automation to drive efficiencies and quality
    • Experience selecting and implementing sales compensation systems
    • Proven project management experience; successfully leading and completing projects
    • Advanced analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to develop scenario analysis
    • Experience creating solid cross-functional partnerships across Sales Ops, Finance, HR, Legal, Business Systems/IT, and others
    • Dependable and highly organized with the ability to multi0task, prioritize and adapt in a complex environment
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup, data manipulation, and financial modeling
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy


    Additional Information:

    • The position is a salaried, exempt position.                                  
    • Compensation
      • Base Salary: $170,000-$180,000
      • Management Bonus: 30% of annual earnings
