Essential Functions

As a Premium Auditor, you will:

  • Conduct on-site audits within assigned territories, meeting with insureds at their business premises to accurately assess exposures for Worker's Compensation, General Liability, and Garage policies.
  • Review policyholder financial records, including federal and state tax returns, payroll documents, financial statements, and general ledger, to complete audits.
  • Utilize knowledge of National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), International Standards Organization (ISO), and other relevant publications to determine correct exposures and classifications.
  • Investigate aspects of the business as needed to verify premium information, preparing detailed audit reports for submission to the corporate office.
  • Provide descriptions of insured's business operations to support underwriters in risk assessment and discussions on insurance fraud.
  • Resolve audit disputes through thorough review and research, conducting mail or telephone audits as required.
  • Summarize audits by accurately entering payroll records, quarterly statements, receipts, etc., adjusting the insured's bill, and scheduling future audits while selecting travel routes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business, or equivalent work experience.

Senior Premium Auditor Requirements

Candidates meeting the following criteria will be considered for Senior Premium Auditor roles:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, insurance, or related business field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Five years of experience in premium audit.
  • Associate in Premium Auditing (APA) designation preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong mathematical and accounting skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with the property and casualty insurance industry and relevant Workers' Compensation regulations and classifications is advantageous.
  • Ability to analyze, research, and resolve audit issues effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Travel is required; a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards is mandatory for travel.
