Job Purpose:

The Inventory Specialist will assist in the development, design, management, communication, and implementation of lean principals in manufacturing, inventory, material flow, and supply chain processes.

Essential Functions

  • Support efforts in cost savings from an organizational level within inventory, supply chain, and material flow.
  • Help track and communicate specific key performance indicators to organizational stakeholders for pricing, internal purchasing order impacts, engineering change notice impacts, and aging.
  • Support and execute projects and initiatives where material flow, order picking, material handling, transactional integrity, and inventory controls require improvement.
  • Focus on the systematic escalation of engineering changes and communicate to specific key organizational stakeholders the impact of ECN’s on inventory, with the intent to minimize obsolescence and shortages.
  • Active participant in organizational improvement activities where manufacturing, material flow, information flow, logistics, systems, and inventory control are in scope or could be impacted.
  • Plays a vital role in auditing process and updating or creating new procedures and/or policies when issues are discovered.
  • Tracks organizational inventory accuracy and provides process, policy, and training for inventory cycle counting, adjustments, and accuracy reporting on a month to month basis.
  • Provides support and training of systems and/or processes implemented across all plants and business units for enhancements and improvements in the realm of supply chain, inventory, and material flow.
  • Highly visible representative of the inventory team with the shop floor team members in an effort to support issues, investigate root cause, and provide feedback and/or training.
  • Communicate consistently on all project and support activities to appropriate individuals within the Lanco companies as a whole.
  • Special projects as assigned by manager.

Experience/Training/Education

  • Required:
    • High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years’ functional experience within inventory management, supply chain, and ERP systems.
  • Desired:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Business Management with 3+ years’ advanced inventory management, supply chain, and ERP systems experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to collect, analyze, and draw conclusions from company data while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Professional communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel) and ERP systems.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.

Physical And Environmental Elements

  • This is primarily an office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May work offsite in various environments; travel may be required. Exposure to noise and machinery possible while on the shop floor. Standard PPE may be required (hearing protection, eye protection, safety shoes). May be required to lift up to 70 lbs. on occasion.
