Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified Tax Accountant to join our team in Irving, Texas.

What You’ll Get To Do

• Review standard US and Canadian sales tax returns and assist in the review and preparation of more complex returns
• Reconcile tax accounts in general ledger
• Prepare monthly journal entries
• Analyze sales and purchase data to ensure tax compliance
• Use research and knowledge of relevant sales and use tax laws in the US and Canada to ensure the proper allocation of the tax laws regarding the taxable/exempt nature of transactions
• Respond to straightforward correspondence with external Tax Revenue bodies
• Support process improvements that will improve operating efficiency through technology-based systems
• Research and validate sales tax rates
  
  

Essential Experience And Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Tax and Accounting related experience beyond college internships
• Very strong computer skills (MS Office), particularly Excel
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently with very little direct supervision
• Sales tax software (ONESOURCE preferred)
  
  

Preferred Experience And Skills

• 1-2 years of experience organizing and coordinating the Sales and Use tax Audits with taxing jurisdictions (medium to large scale) audit support
• Experience with tax training to business operations
• SAP experience
