Description Of Duties/Essential Functions

Manage the Rehabilitation and Cleaning and Television Inspection contracts Close-out.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Request the close out documents from contractor once the contract has substantially completed.
  • Reviews contractor submittals.
  • Prepare substantial and final completion certificate for contract close-out.
  • Use a GIS map to review work orders map to make sure the Council District list is accurate.
  • Review the final estimate package and prepare Request for Council Action (RCAs)
  • Coordinates with other City departments on issues related to processing contract close-out documents.
  • Electronic archiving contract documents on CIPMS from advertisement to close-out.
  • Review all appropriate documentation for approval prior to submitting for processing.
  • Served as a liaison between City employees and outside contractors.
  • Assist in year-end closing.
  • Track contracts close-out process and update the tracking spreadsheets in a timely manner.
  • Attends pre-bid, pre-construction, and various project meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned..

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is generally physically comfortable. The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of up to 30 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces.

This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier _II_ Level.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Project Management or a closely related field based on the responsibilities of the position. Considerable knowledge of design or construction is required.

Experience Requirements

Four years of experience in construction, construction inspection, design, landscape design, geotechnical, environmental or a closely related field are required.

Directly related professional architectural, construction or landscape design experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

License Requirements

None

PREFERENCES

Preference will be given to a candidate with extensive knowledge of Sewer Line Rehabilitation and Cleaning and Television inspection. Experience in reporting high level information from various data sources a plus. High levels of proficiency in MS Office, CMS, GIMS, CIPMS and GIS mapping,

Preference will be given to those candidates who has experience working with contracts, highly proficient in Microsoft Office, general knowledge of One Drive; possess a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize various tasks and see them to completion with minimal supervision; demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal

  • Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
