Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The carpenter position provides building & grounds maintenance, construction and technical support across Aspirus St. Luke’s main hospital and outlying clinics. The duties include but are not limited to a variety of preventative and routine maintenance and repairs on critical mechanical equipment, buildings, roofs and grounds. Examples would involve installing building fixtures & components, diagnosing & repairing plumbing & auxiliary equipment. All tasks are performed in compliance with regulatory agencies, including OSHA, Life Safety, DNV, Joint Commission, NFPA, National Safety Goals, etc. This position will help train and develop staff, take emergency calls, assist with procurement of parts, aid in project coordination and act as a leader within the Facilities Maintenance team.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: High School graduate or equivalent and Trade School Graduate or See Experience.
    • Experience: Two (2) years experience working for a professional contractor as a professional Carpenter.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Extensive knowledge of wood, glass, plastics, locks and lock systems; knowledge of building code and fire codes; ability to read blueprints.
    • READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    • WRITING - Basic: Ability to write simple correspondence.
    • SPEAKING - Basic: Ability to speak simple sentences.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
    • REASONING ABILITY - Basic Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables.
