Sixth Judicial District Court Administration (based in Johnson County but travel to all D6 Counties is required) has an immediate opening for a Judicial Specialist 2. This position will be assigned to District Judge Andrew Chappell and District Judge Kevin McKeever, in addition to working with other District Judges according to the needs of the District.

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

Under the direct supervision of court administration, candidates will have the desire to learn the complexities of our court case processing system using our statewide Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). Responsibilities of this position include providing clerical support for District Judges; also to troubleshoot, operate, and monitor electronic recording equipment in the courtroom when recording court events. Travel to other counties in the district (including Linn, Iowa, Jones, Benton, and Tama Counties) is required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and two (2) years of successful completion of accredited post high school education in business, paralegal, computer, legal assistant or related program. Two (2) years of professional office experience in business, court or legal work or a related area with one (1) year of the experience involving customer service. At the discretion of the appointing authority additional years of experience may be substituted for the required post high school education.

Or, the successful completion of additional years of education (i.e., Bachelor’s Degree) may be substituted for years of experience on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience. Education cannot be substituted for customer service experience.
