Job Description

Your role:

In your role as Safety Coordinator & Environmental Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring workplace safety by enforcing occupational health and safety (OHS) standards and ensuring that the company complies with environmental regulations. This role involves conducting safety audits, managing environmental programs, training employees, and investigating incidents. The individual will collaborate with management and employees to create and maintain a safe and environmentally compliant working environment.

Primary Duties Will Include (but Not Limited To)

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace, equipment, and processes.
  • Identify potential hazards and unsafe conditions, reporting findings to management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and local, state, and federal OHS regulations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs and initiatives.
  • Create, update, and maintain safety procedures, guidelines, and documentation.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and ensure employees are trained for emergency situations.
  • Conduct safety training for new hires and ongoing safety education for all employees.
  • Ensure employees understand safety protocols, proper equipment use, and hazard recognition.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents to identify root causes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Monitor the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA standards, hazardous waste disposal, water/air quality regulations).
  • Conduct environmental audits and risk assessments to identify potential non-compliance areas.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental laws and local regulations.
  • Serve as the point of contact for environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Stay informed on changes to environmental regulations and ensure the organization stays compliant.

Required Experience

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification, Environmental Compliance Certification (preferred), First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Must have Secret Security Clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience in a safety and/or environmental compliance role.
