Position Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Director of Advancement (DA) include Fundraising and Social Responsibility, assisting with internal and external communications and supporting Frasier on strategic initiative projects.

The DA is responsible for the development, planning, coordination, direction and implementation of a sustainable fundraising program. The DA is responsible for developing short and long-term strategies for expanding Frasier’s donor base and charitable gifts through ongoing fund development initiatives, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaigns. The DA works closely with the CGO, President & CEO and Board of Directors in assuring achievement of fundraising goals and reporting and interfacing on all social responsibility activities.   


Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with the executive team, develop, plan, and implement a comprehensive development strategy supporting Frasier’s organizational priorities, including grants, special events, capital campaigns, major gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation giving, and growth of the annual fund through direct mail and online fundraising.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to monitor the implementation of all grant/funding awards to ensure compliance with funder or contractual obligations; prepare and submit grant reports according to funder requirements.
  • Oversee all aspects of relationship management with funders and donors, ensuring prompt communication, accurate proposal submissions, executive approval of commitments, appropriate recognition and publicity, and fulfillment of reporting obligations.
  • Work directly with donors on special restrictions and large named gifts to ensure a positive donor experience.
  • Develop an annual communications plan for donors, funders, volunteers, and external constituents, collaborating with others to ensure streamlined messaging and consistent branding across all external communications, media releases, and responses.
  • Collaborate with members of Frasier’s Board of Directors and key volunteers to maximize their fundraising efforts.
  • Establish policies and procedures for gift acceptance, gift processing, record keeping, tax documentation, and donor/funder acknowledgment, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations.
  • Monitor fundraising data and trends; provide statistical analysis and present progress reports to the executive team and Board of Directors.
  • Develop budgets, strategic plans, and short- and long-range objectives for all areas of responsibility, integrating these operational and financial objectives with overall organizational goals.
  • Serve as an active member of the Leadership Team, supporting the CGO, CFO, and CEO on strategic initiatives as needed.
  • Support the Director of Communications with internal and external communications.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of fundraising and development experience, preferably with Life Plan Communities.
  • Demonstrated success with major donors, direct mail, online giving, capital campaigns, events, planned giving, and government grants.
  • CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) designation strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proven ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic donor development plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders including residents, team members, volunteers, and professional and business leaders.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating and managing relationships with multiple donor sources.
  • Knowledge of gift-related policies, ethical standards set by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and current fundraising trends, including the use of social media tools.
  • Commitment to professional and ethical standards with a collaborative, team-oriented work style.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, database management (Donor Perfect preferred), project management software, and social media platforms.
  • Strong organizational and management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and take on special projects between major appeals.
  • Detail-oriented and customer-focused.
  • Must pass background and health screenings required by the organization.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $96,824.00-$122,653.00 per year. Bonus eligible.
