  • The role of the Editorial Assistant is to provide administrative support for the full Video Editorial team in support of Sage Video product development, specifically the Senior Acquisitions Editor, the Development Editors, and the Manager, Video Licensing. They will also support the Senior Director in helping to organize and facilitate meetings for the Visual Media group.
  • Using proficient organizational and administrative skills, the Editorial Assistant will work efficiently with a substantial volume of diverse tasks in a stimulating and fast-paced area of the business. This includes working closely with colleagues from other departments outside of Editorial including Production, Marketing, and Product Management.
  • This position works within the Global Editorial Learning team at Sage. They will work with global colleagues in a dynamic area of the business to significantly increase Sage’s online product portfolio for its library customers.

The Editorial Assistant is a fully remote role to be ideally located in the eastern time zone.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain Editorial content tracking databases and other internal record-keeping systems.
  • Secure complete and accurate bibliographic information from our external content partners.
  • Provide support for Editors in their video commissioning activities including researching and documenting video prospects, contributor outreach, auditing submissions, and providing and storing necessary forms.
  • Help our Editorial Processing team with payment processing for contributors, licensors, and content partners.
  • Liaise with the same Editorial Processing team regarding the processing of video title metadata into relevant publication systems to prepare them for launch.
  • Facilitate and store signed contracts for video contributors, content partners, and licensors as needed.
  • Correspond and develop positive relationships with and provide strong care to contributors, licensors, or content partners and internal colleagues to ensure content is acquired/delivered to agreed deadlines.
  • Organize the agendas and take notes for certain meetings in the Visual Media product team.
  • Provide additional administrative support for the Senior Director, Library Editorial as needed.

Education, Skills, Experience And Qualification Guidelines

Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

  • Candidates who can demonstrate a compelling case for wanting to join Sage and/or develop their career in Higher Education/academic publishing will stand out; however, no previous publishing experience is required
  • Ability to plan, organize, analyze, and establish priorities to achieve results.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
  • Comfortable working in a remotely managed position.
