Description

We are seeking a skilled Tax Manager to join our accounting department. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our tax division, overseeing state and local tax compliance and reporting, as well as leading initiatives to improve current processes and procedures. This role requires strong attention to detail, strategic thinking, and a commitment to staying updated on new taxation laws and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Managing and leading a team of four members by providing necessary guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Facilitating state and local tax compliance duties by accurately interpreting tax laws and guidance, preparing necessary reports, and ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Developing and administering best practices regarding tax procedures and policies to improve efficiency, productivity, and accuracy within our department.
  • Continuously monitoring and studying new tax laws to ensure our company maintains legal compliance and capitalize on tax reduction opportunities.
  • Acting as the point of reference for our company’s, employees’, and clients’ tax-related inquiries.
  • Coordinating, preparing, and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and yearly tax statements and proposing strategies to minimize our tax liabilities.
  • Collaborating with internal and external auditors during tax audits and investigations.
  • Assisting with tax-planning activities and consulting on issues related to mergers, acquisitions, and other business dealings.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, be able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Candidates should also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to present tax strategies and concepts in a clear, concise manner.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. An advanced degree or relevant certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Tax Coach (CTC) is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a tax manager or similar role within a dynamic finance department.
  • Profound knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance, and state and local tax laws.
  • Understanding of tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
