The Consumer Packaging Division has an immediate need for a Product Development Engineer supporting the bottle product lines. This position will primarily be responsible for providing tech plans to Product Line Managers, working closely with Engineering Services, Project Management, and commercialization of new products.

Responsibilities

  • Grow company revenues by developing new products
  • Generate products and services from inception to commercialization for Stock and custom projects
  • Product support via direct communication with Sales, Manufacturing & Customer on new product development and production issues
  • Review product documentation during/after release to production
  • Pursue and support cost reduction activities to achieve established company goals
  • Ability to work independently, resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction, and work as part of a team
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines
  • Capability to accurately and efficiently work on multiple projects
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve manufacturing related issues and have a thorough understanding of Assembly, Test & Quality methods
  • Work with Product Line Managers, Sales, and operations staff to establish production deliverables
  • Interact with all levels of management, lead cross-functional teams, project planning activities, and provides technical guidance in adjacent areas
  • Provide package design, development, material selection and commercialization services which includes conducting appropriate validation testing to confirm performance and creating comprehensive specifications
  • Manages parallel paths, cost containment, operational efficiency and problem-solving efforts
  • Develop methodology to test and measure products and applications
  • Work with suppliers and regional marketing teams to deliver quality products
  • Conduct periodic product analysis and optimize as needed
  • Point of contact for incoming quote tech plans, coordinating cross functional resources for timely quotes
  • Support quoting of new and replacement business – interface with cross-functional teams
  • Coordinate market and competitive intelligence. Collect, analyze and effectively communicate customer, competitive and market trends for specified products managed
  • Identify new and existing market growth opportunities by collaborating with Sales, Innovation, Product Development, Commercial Development and Operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business administration or related field.
  • General knowledge of Sales, Product Management, and/or Financial background preferred.
  • Knowledge of market research, marketing strategy, and new product development preferred.
  • Understanding of analytical tools to benchmark customer and market needs and relate them to existing operational infrastructure.
  • Experience in bottle platforms preferred with emphasis on EBM, SBM, & RHB
  • Ability to travel as required
