Amber Bio is a biotechnology company pioneering new gene editing modalities using multi-kilobase edits to reach previously undruggable patient populations. Founded by pioneers in the CRISPR field from leading institutions for gene editing research, the company is developing a first-of-its-kind RNA writing platform that can correct thousands of bases at once, thereby correcting genetic mutations safely and reversibly. Job Description: Scientist, Discovery Position Overview: The Scientist in Discovery will play a pivotal role in leading the design, execution, and interpretation of proof-of concept studies to support our RNA editing programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying and onboarding disease-appropriate cellular models, defining critical disease-relevant endpoints, and designing and executing experiments to evaluate novel lead therapeutics. The candidate will work at the interface of the Platform and Development teams to ensure the seamless transition of potential therapeutics from concept to preclinical testing. Key Responsibilities

  • On-board and validate relevant cellular models to evaluate new potential therapeutics and their applications in various disease areas
  • Design, plan, and execute proof-of-concept experiments using mammalian cell lines to validate novel therapeutic targets and approaches
  • Develop or source endpoint assays ensuring robust and reproducible results
  • Analyze cells, tissues, and AAVs to support various stages of research and development
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experiments and analyses
  • Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, including data summaries and strategic recommendations
  • Draft and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including platform, preclinical, and manufacturing groups
  • Clearly communicate findings and contribute to the development of research strategies and project plans


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture, including iPSCs
  • Proven experience interrogating disease mechanisms in cellular models
  • Hands-on experience with techniques such as PCR, flow cytometry, western blot, ELISA
  • Experience in designing and executing experiments in a research or biotech setting
  • Familiarity with AAV-based gene therapies a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
