Job Summary

The Tier I Security Analysts is an operational role, focusing on real time security event monitoring and security incident investigation.

As a Security Analysts you will monitor networks and systems, detect security threats ('events'), analyze and assess alarms, work directly with end users on remediation and support, and report on threats, intrusion attempts and false alarms, either resolving or escalating to Tier II or Tier III depending on the severity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting security/system logs for events, operational irregularities, and potential incidents and escalating issues as appropriate
• Administration and operational support of security monitoring and management systems
• Utilizing, tuning, and administering security tools such as anti-virus, endpoint protection, SIEM, and other essential security solutions
• Evaluating and determine if/when information security violations have occurred through network or device logs, open-source research, vulnerability and configuration scan data, and user provided reports
• Monitoring network traffic and responding to security alerts
• Using security dashboards to detect anomalous activities
• Monitoring threat/vulnerability landscape and security advisories
• Performs periodic internal/external vulnerability scans on inventory of corporate assets to evaluate the security configuration of systems
• Recommend appropriate measures to remediate vulnerabilities such as patching
• Use threat hunting security tools and intelligence information to identify and remediate potential security threats
• Research and remain aware of new and emerging threats to ensure newly discovered vulnerabilities are addressed
• May assist Incident Response team member when the incident response team is active. Incident response tasks may include identification, log and event collection and analysis, communication support, and evidence handling
• Monitor email for alerts and requests to the SOC
• Assist in performing network audits, security reviews, system control mapping, process documentation, control testing, deficiency remediation, gap analysis/assessments, and audit preparation
• Assist in documenting Standard Operating Procedures and System Configuration Standards
• Analysis of phishing emails reported by internal end users.
• Triage on general information security tickets.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of work experience, education and training
• 2+ years of experience in Cyber Security environment
• Candidate must hold at least one (1) certification in the field of information security from a respectable security organization. Desirable certifications include, but not limited to: GCIH, GCIA, GCFE, GREM, GCFA, GSEC, Security +, CEH, CISSP, CCNA (Security) or equivalent certifications
• Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing
• Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of organization
• Bilingual in Spanish
  
  

Range: $80,000 - $120,000
