Job Description

  • Oversees accounts payable claims operations
  • Trains, schedules, assigns, and reviews work of staff
  • Develops and implements record keeping systems, forms, policies, and procedures related to billing, processing payments, and other accounts payable and receivable activities
  • Develops and pursues collection strategies.
  • Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies and suggests appropriate corrective procedures
  • Communicates and coordinates accounting policies, practices, and procedures with department and company managers and officials, vendors, reporting agencies, clients, customers, and the public
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Adjusts errors and complaints
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow
  • Issues written and oral instructions
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances
  • Observes and evaluates employees and work procedures to ensure quality standards and service is met
  • Makes recommendations regarding personnel actions such as new hire requests and discharges, to ensure proper staffing
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates
  • Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five or more years prior accounts payable experience in a supervisory role
  • Ability to effectively apply the policies and practices involved in the human resources function
  • Ability to supervise a staff in a positive and productive manner by motivating, developing and managing employees as they work
  • Ability to utilize and administer the disciplinary action process through coaching and counseling to improve performance or terminate employment
  • Ability to communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing with department heads, managers, coworkers and vendors to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions
  • Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within an automated systems as well as a variety of software packages such as Outlook, Excel and Word.

EDUCATION

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.
